kdenlive disappear on ubuntu?

Tue Oct 26, 2010 3:49 am
i randomly went to open kdenlive and it wouldnt open..i looked and it wasnt installed anymore, im guessing this happened in the course of an upgrade? anyways i go to reinstall it and its not working

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kdenlive: Depends: libavfilter-extra-0 but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

so i go into synaptic package to install the dependency and get

libavfilter-extra-0:
Depends: libavcodec-extra-52 (<4:0.5.1-99) but 4:0.6-2ubuntu6.1 is to be installed

no clue what that last part means..but libavcodec-extra-52 is already installed
help me out!

It's exactly what it says: you have broken packages (read: package dependencies) on your system. I don't use ubuntu, but I have been using apt-get, I think the best course of action is to remove all packages apt-get mentions having problems. Take note the packages that you remove and DON'T do it, if it drags in about 150 other packages (which may happen). If you reach that point or if no more errors are generated, simply install kdenlive and it should drag all depencies in, correctly.

im guessing you're imcompatible repositories or PPA's. use the recommended way stated here: http://www.kdenlive.org/forum/kdenkive-078-packaged-ubuntu-maverick-lucid-karmic-jaunty
