hi,
i was using kdenlive on my gentoo system in version 0.7.7.1. the nvidia card i use is VDPAU supported and worked just fine with HD (720p/30fps) clips from my GoPRO camera. a week ago i made a system update. the kdenlive version is still 0.7.7.1 but my clips are stuttering at cut points. transitions of two clips are massive stuttering even when i turn off video output in timelines. i installed the current git and svn version with the install wizard. now i have version 0.7.9 for testing but the behaviour is still the same. can anyone help getting my fluent working system back? ;) thanx. |

Does it stutter in a media player when you play a rendered output?
It is very hard to give any advice; there are so many variables. |

no, the raw material and the rendered files are running fluently in every other player.
even in the clip and project monitor of kdenlive they are shown normally. only if there's a new video stream to show at a cutting point or a transition the playback in the project monitor and the sound is stuttering. i really don't know what has changed in my system and unfortunately i can't go back to that point in the software because in gentoo systems a lot of programs are changing on an update. if it helps, my system is Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G96 [GeForce 9500 GT] (rev a1) Audio device: Intel Corporation Ibex Peak High Definition Audio (rev 05) 4 GB Memory 120 GB sata system harddisk 1 TB sata data harddisk kernel: 2.6.34-gentoo-r12 #1 SMP Tue Nov 2 19:41:10 CET 2010 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux kdenlive-0.7.7.1 or 0.7.9svn my video files: VIDEO: [H264] 1280x720 24bpp 59.940 fps 15437.4 kbps (1884.4 kbyte/s) or VIDEO: [H264] 1280x720 24bpp 29.970 fps 8151.3 kbps (995.0 kbyte/s) a problem of getting the videodata from the harddrive i can exclude, when i look at a system monitor the whole data is in memory and nothing is fetched from harddisk. btw, a friend of mine has a similar new system (only AMD processor) but a brand new installed ubuntu (v10.10) system and suffers the same problems. bye. |

i can't solve my problem now, so i have a little workaround.
videos in dnxhd codec are shown fluently. i convert my 720p h264 clips to 720p dnxhd (1280x720, 110000kb/s, 29.97fps) clips. a big disadvantage is that my clips are now 6 times bigger on harddisk! |
