Am i just plain stupid or blind? :O
There simply is no links or directions for download. I am kinda disapointed, that the information on the webpage is wrong. Because for me, a newbie to this program, if i see a "download" tab i expect i'll get a downlad under there, atleast a mirror link to the actuall download. But the only thing that i get is instalation instructions. I dont want to search the web for the download, i want to download it from the programs web page, witch for me is http://www.kdenlive.org/. So can somebody point me to the right direction, where i can get the download? I am a fresh ubuntu user and i think that this video editing program is exactly what i am searching for, but i also would like to use it, not just dream of using it. Don't missunderstand me, i am not flaming here, i just am aiming at the site developers to the point, where a noob like me can also download this great program! Thanks for reading, replys and i hope to be editing footage with this program soon. Also sorry for my bad grammar and typos, english is not my native language :) |

Since you're on Ubuntu, click the "Ubuntu" link at the top of the Downloads page (underneath the Penguin in Superman garb). On that page you'll find detailed instructions on how to download Kdenlive based on the version of Ubuntu you're using. If you're new to Linux/Ubuntu from Windoze you're not going to get a typical download/install process that you would normally see under Windows. Just follow the instructions exactly as listed and you'll be in business.

That explains, i'm a stupid noob haha, thanks for the information.
Is the downloading always going to be so hmm how can i say, confusing/different, under ubuntu? I am currently on my windows PC, but I am building a video editing system, that i chose to run on ubuntu since this OS kinda seems to be wery friendly for a noob like me haha, anyway, can you link me do a good wiki etc, on describing the major differences that i should know (for example the downloading part made me stupid) I decided to use ubuntu & kdenlive, because for a person like me, who has worked on a windows environment with a copy of sony vegas, it looked like good way to get myself back in action Anyway, thanks again jtemple for the useful tip :) |

I'd say for 99% of what you will do, the Ubuntu Software Center will be the easiest and most consistent way to download software. Heck, even Kdenlive is in the software center...but it's an older version that has some issues. You can find the software center through the main menu in Ubuntu (I think it's the last option...not in front of Ubuntu at the moment).
For me, Kdenlive is one of maybe 1-3 packages that I download outside of the software center. |
