I am trying to capture video in Kdenlive (0.7.8) using the Hauppage WinTV PVR-150 PCI card in my Ubuntu 10.10 system. I have selected Video4Linux in the Record Monitor, but when I click the play or record buttons, I receive the message 'Not connected'.
Thinking it might be a permissions issue, I added my user account to the 'video' group, which has read/write permission on /dev/video0, and then logged-in again, but received the same 'Not connected' message. I checked the settings in Settings > Configure Kdenlive ... > Capture > Video4Linux but am not sure what the appropriate settings should be. Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated. |

I was able to capture using VLC and the instructions found here:
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=55754 I would still be interested in any suggestions on how I might be able to capture directly into Kdenlive. Thanks |

PVR-150 provides a MPEG-2 stream through video4linux, but ffmpeg, which we use for capture, only supports uncompressed sources through v4l.
