Hi everyone,
This is my first post and I'd like to say that I have been really enjoying Kdenlive under Ubuntu 10.04 and reading all your postings. I just purchased a Sony HDR-CX550v. It records in AVCHD 1920x1080 60i. As I understand, 60i can easily be encoded into 30p. My first issue is the .MTS files play very slow in the preview window while editing. With a little poking around I came across the http://kdenlive.org/forum/proxy-clips-hd-editing thread. I am having a little trouble understanding manual proxy clip trans-coding under 0.7.8. I think I get how to encode in mpeg2. I just put the .MTS clip on the time-line, and render only that clip as a mpeg2. I get lost at step #3 "Then I will edit the proxy files, save the project, change the name of the proxy directory, so kdenlive is gonna loose the linking" Where are the proxy files at? Maybe a better question is what are proxy files? If I understand the foundation, maybe the rest will fall into place. Can anyone point me in a direction? Thanks |

I just figured out where the transcoding option is and how to edit the ffmpeg commands under "Configure Kdenlive".

fyi, proxy editing is a new feature that was added after 0.7.8. There is not yet an official release that contains this feature. People talking about it are using a pre-release. A new release is expected later in March.
