Only getting one minute

Fri Mar 04, 2011 10:38 pm
I am learning how to use Kdenlive for capturing video from my video camera. It works with the camera, but it's only saving the last minute of the video I'm trying to capture.

The video that I'm trying to capture is about 15-16 minutes long in all. But, when I click on disconnect from the Record Monitor, it only saves the last minute. How do I get it to save the whole video????

Has anybody had this happen before? Can I change the settings in some way, so it will record the whole video?

few things to check.
1. you're not trying to save to a FAT32 filesystem are you? there's a 4gb filesize limit and although 10 mins should be way under 4gb it all depends on what filetype you're saving from the camera.
2. you do have enough storage space on the folder/drive you're saving to right?

I can't think of anything else but I use kino to capture over firewire to avi type 2 open dml files, then i import those into kdenlive. just a thought.

First of all, other users of Kino and dvgrab (which kdenlive uses) has reported similar problems, and it seems to always be driver-related.
Secondly, just check to see if it was automatically creating new files every X MB or Y frames by looking on the filesystem where it created the captured files.

P.S. Here is the melt command I used:

melt -verbose desktop_video-0.mp4 -consumer avformat:x264-melt.mp4 vcodec=libx264
vpre=default an=1 threads=8

You might want to adjust threads or add b=1000k or whatever to that.

If you are using Firewire, does Kino (DV only) or dvgrab (DV or HDV) work?
