DV capture w/ USB ?

Thu Apr 07, 2011 2:10 am
Hello group -

Sorry if you've heard or answered this before; feel free to point me to an earlier posting:

I've been a long-time Kino user, capturing my DV footage via Firewire. Now, for some reason I'm just not able to understand, my Firewire isn't working (it's not the camera or the cable; other than that I'm stumped) and I'm hoping Kdenlive supports USB capture of DV?

Help much appreciated. BTW, I've seen posts from Dan Denendy, so if he's over here it's obviously a good package.

Thx

Reid

98% of all miniDV cameras with USB do not support DV over USB. You need to see if your camera supports USB UVC:
http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/

If so, then dvgrab should support it. Since I do not have such a camera, I do not know if it still does. I worked on that within dvgrab a while ago when a casual contributor had such a camera.

No, and at this point, I would say DV over USB can only be used by someone willing to debug it if it does not work.
