Hi I am new to kdenlive, so I don't know if I am wrong or if I don't understand something.
I am a photographer and I use hugin to make panoramic pictures. What I would like is to "animate" my panoramic picture with kdenlive in order to zoom my pictures to fit the height of the video and going from left to right, then to zoom on some parts of the picture to provide a better view of some details and finally to present the whole picture by fitting the width. This is globally what I would like to do. I have tried with the 0.7.2 version and now after having compiled it, I am using the last version, 0.8. My problem is the following. First of all, here is one of the pictures I would like to animate: http://peccini.fr/tempo/kdenlive/3-31-01_06-i2-p.jpeg The size of the picture is 3240x1080 and I would like to produce a video in 1440x1080p format. I add a new clip with Project -> Add clip and selection of my picture. Then I drag it on the first video track. Here is what I get: http://peccini.fr/tempo/kdenlive/snapshot_01.jpeg Everything seems OK for now. Then I add an effect "Pan and Zoom". Here is what I get: http://peccini.fr/tempo/kdenlive/snapshot_02.jpeg My problem is that the picture is not as large as the yellow guide. And if I request a "Fit to height", it's the yellow guide which fits the height and not the picture. In the same way, if I request an "Align to left", it's again the yellow guide which is aligned to the left. Here is what I get after the two manipulations: http://peccini.fr/tempo/kdenlive/snapshot_03.jpeg So my question is: how can I get the picture to be the base of the manipulation or to get it fit exactly the yellow guide. When I am working on a 3:2 picture, the yellow guide and the picture are of the same size and I have no problem to put the photo at the right position. Perhaps there is something I don't understand and I would be pleased if someone can help me. Thanks in advance Stéphan |

It is not always best to use the yellow rectangle esp. with large panorama. I suggest to start by setting the width and height values to the same as the picture. Then, as you add keyframes drag the picture to where you want. I think once you understand how that works you can make some size adjustments as needed.

Thanks for spending time to help me. What I don't understand in your post is for what do I have to set width and height values. I have been able to generate a video doing what I want but it is not easy because all the configuration is associated to the yellow rectangle, so I can't use "Fit to height", "Align to left", ... and I have to adjust the position of my picture by eye. I'm sure that it is not the good way to do it and that I'm wrong, but I'm lost.
