Hi everyone,
This is my first ever use of a video editor. Can you please tell me how to fast forward or fast backward a clip? And how to move it along the project bar without messing up the endpoints? I'm trying to extract a few scenes from a long recording, and so far I have had to listen to it from scratch at every attempt. I'm sick of it and I'm sure there is a better way to do it. I tried clicking several times on the "forward" button, and to edit the clock by clicking in it and typing new values but none of these work. Also, what should I do to get the second segment? I mean, will I loose my first set of endpoints if I try to add a second set? Please help. Mariane |

I found this: there is a little upwards pointing triangle just under the picture and this can be dragged to fastforward or fastbackward.
Now another problem I have is that I added 5 segments and only the first 3 kept the pictures. The 2 last ones only had the sound, the screen stayed black. So for now I'll add them 3 by 3, I hope later I'll be able to add 3 groups of 3 together, etc. Mariane |

You can navigate in the preview (and timeline?) by using the j-k-l keys. Pressing once 1x speed, pressing twise 2x speed, then 4x speed...
Key layout: j-backward, k-stop, l-forward. With segments you mean clips, I guess. Did you add the clips to video tracks? Then the picture should be visible. If you use the defaults, the upper three trakcs are video trakcs (video and audio) and the two lower tracks are audi only. Look at the icons on the left side of the tracks, there you also can mute tracks. |
