Wow, where to start?
I'm using ubuntu 10.4 lucid link just updated and I've been using ubuntu for about a year now, I'm not an expert in the slightest; I have some basic programming notion and command line usage but, again, I'm no knowledgeable hacker of sorts. So what I'm trying to do is a fun montage of videos with my friends to upload to youtube and I have run into a few problems: 1 When adding effects with contrastor or saturator the video slows down quite a bit and the audio goes out of sync but I'm guessing that this problem will eliminate itself with the rendering? right? 2 I can't seem to render my project: when I go to render in websites I get unsupported audio codecs, have I got to install some plugins? if yes what and how? (sorry for the total noobage). 3 I don't seem to have under colour effects curves, does this also require a plugin? I must say that going threw threads in this forum I sometimes struggle to understand what is going on so bear with me if you can, and by the way ,a part from my difficulties, I'm having a real good time with kdenlive. Also please tell me if this is not the right forum to discuss this basic stuff; there seems to be no subforum for the total beginner questions. Thanks Sacha |

1. As the effect is being applied "live" in the timeline, then yes, depending on the quality of your videos, playback will slow down and you will get audio sync issues, I see the same. You can use "proxy" clips to rectify some of this, this process makes a low quality version of your videos for using in the timeline, but when it is rendered, the original high quality clips will be used. In either case, you will not see any of this in a rendered video. 2. To get all codecs on my system, I always install ubuntu-restricted-extras package and have never had any problems, although I recommended this to someone a few days ago and it didn't help, just what I have always done, so in the terminal type: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras This should get all of the codecs you need 3. Not sure about that sorry Cheers |

Thanks for your answer.
I run the command in the terminal and agreed with the licence that popped up but ,even after restarting the computer, when I try to render for websites all the options are red and if I hover over the youtube ones I get Unsupported audio codec:aac or Unsupported audio codec: libpm3lame. I could be missing some really obvious thing...If anyone could give any other help I would be grateful. Sacha |

Quick update:
I rerun the configuration wizard and looked at the audio codecs and libp3lame was there! So after finishing running the wizard configuration and restarting kdenlive I now can render videos for youtube 640x480 but still not for youtube 1280x720 because I'm still missing the audio codec aac, anyone know where to find it? Ans thanks moorsey that codec was there probably thanks to you. |
