Hi,
I know that kdenlive use ffmpeg, but after split in ffmpeg team and a new fork - libav, some distributions preffer now libav instead of ffmpeg. It will have any implications in the future of kdenlive? Will kdenlive stay with ffmpeg or will preffer libav? Here is an example of flame wars: http://codecs.multimedia.cx/?p=370 |

Until there is significant divergence between the two, it's not really much of anything to get concerned over.

Kdenlive depends on ffmpeg, but eg. Ubuntu use libav and its called ffmpeg. Event worst:
"...The Debian/Ubuntu packager is on Libav side (see by the way the distribution status on their site), and obviously they distribute Libav packages. But they are also using this to spread a very destructive lie:" ffmpeg version 0.8.3-6:0.8.3-4, Copyright (c) 2000-2012 the Libav developers built on Jun 26 2012 09:26:41 with gcc 4.7.1 *** THIS PROGRAM IS DEPRECATED *** This program is only provided for compatibility and will be removed in a future release. Please use avconv instead. [...] The FFmpeg/Libav situation http://blog.pkh.me/p/13-the-ffmpeg-libav-situation.html Maybe lost of the last time post eg. Kdenlive crashed on Ubuntu has it source in this, that Kdenlive on Ubuntu is not usin REAL ffmpeg but libav instead? |
