View Video Track

Mon Dec 26, 2011 8:34 pm
Hi,

is it right, that in the project monitor i should see the place in the video track, marked with the timeline cursor?

in my installation (Kubuntu, kdenlive 0.7.8) it's difficult to synchronize the position in the timeline and the images shown in the project monitor.
The project monitor reacts only very slowly to the timeline position changes (when it does at all)... how can I enhance this?

Thank you, regards

What format and length are your clips? Have you tried using proxies?

Even with proxies I have playback problems with HDV and particularly so with longer clips, say 30mins to an hour.

Remuxing to mkv makes no difference but transcoding to lossless huffyuv in a mkv does help.

However using HD h264 from a DSLR plays back fine with proxies. So some formats appear to have problems.

Thank you very much... I used the .MTS-Clips from the hd-cam.
Is there any tutorial about using proxies? How does it work?

Best Regards

You'll need a more recent build of kdenlive to have proxies function.

Perhaps as you are on a Ubuntu based distro you can use sunabs PPA it is on the front page of kdenlive.org

Thank you, I installed the more recent version and now I could see the proxy.

When importing my clip, only 36 seconds (its HD 1440 x 1080, 50fps), the software says that's it's not compatible with the chosen profile and close to the clip it says, that proxy crashed.

I did not find a project profile (HD 1440 50fps) that matches my clips. So am I right, that I can't use my clips, as they are straight from the cam?

Best Regards

Try a HDV 50i project or a HDV 25P project if you know that your source is progressive frames rather than interlaced. If those project templates don't exist you can create new ones in kdenlive under Settings menu I think, Project Profiles.

You can find out what your source is by using mediainfo or in kdenlive under video properties to see what ffmpeg thinks it is.

This thread may help you:
