hi,
I have just started using kdenlive for capturing videos from my DV cam and editing and putting it onto DVDs. I am using kubuntu 11.10. I used apt-get to install kdenlive.I am running kdenlive version 0.8.2.1. Here is my problem, i have managed to capture 2 DV tapes using kdenlive without any issues. I am onto my third DV tape and now kdenlive is refusing to connect to the DV camcorder. When i click on the connect button i always get same message, Not connected. My camcorder is connected and powered on as it was when i mange to capture video off the first two DV tapes. Not sure what has changed but now kdenlive is refusing to connect to the camera. I am using firewire port on my mother board to connect my camera using a firewire cable. Can some provide someone provide help or tips on how i can solve this issue....need to capture some one DV tapes....dvgrab version is 3.5. Thanks for your help.... |

Test it through a command line of dvgrab, which is what kdenlive uses anyway. Or try some other program like Kino
I use Ubuntu 11.10 with firewire DV and had to enable permissions to the firewire port for my user. |

Hi,
I tested it using command line and i get error camera does not exist from dvgrab. You mentioned using Kino, can you please advise how you mange to use Kino in 11.10 since it has new firewire stack and Kino is complaining that it needs raw1394 module loaded and it cannot find it on the 11.10 install. I have installed Kino but cannot capture due to raw1394 module not supported in 11.10 version of Kubuntu. Where can i find the instructions to make Kino work with new firewire stack. Thanks |

Sorry, I hadn't tried Kino in years. But I just installed it from the default 11.10 x64 repos and it captured video no problems what-so-ever.
Please post the output error message from the command line prompt, as well as the command you entered. This will most likely be related to the Kino issue. |
