HI I am geting error mesages when trying to render to the following formats,using kdenlive ver 0.8.2.1 for mp4 and flash I get unsuported audio codec libmp3lame, for xvid4 I get unsuported codec libxvid, for h.264 I get unsuported codec libx264. I downloaded kdenlive from the ubuntu repositories then added the repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release and updated then upgraded. I am using xubuntu desktop for this install. I have another partision with kde desktop and every above rendering formats work fine. can anyone tell me what I am missing in my xubuntu desktop that is making these formats unusable?

Try removing the kdenliverc file from ~/.kde/share/config

I tryed to open the .kde directory in xubuntu but am told it dosent exist.

It's within your home directory, you may need to enable 'show hidden files' to find it, all .whatevers are hidden by default.
