What do you mean by auto-fit? I googled for it but mostly found car wash facilities, surely not what you want. The other hits were for DVD mastering, doesn't seem to, well, fit either?

i do not believe there is an option to auto stretch/shrink the video clip to match the length of the audio. if it's a matter of shrinking you can simply click on the end of the video clip and drag it smaller to shrink and line it up with the audio clip. there is no way to stretch a video clip, it's only as long as it is. this also doesn't account for syncing, if you need the audio and video to be in sync then you really need to be careful shrinking your video to match your audio because it could throw everything off.

maybe if you give an example of what you're doing exactly, we can suggest how to accomplish it

I think Alain Bastein meant a feature that would arrange video clips chronologically on the timeline making them in-sync with a continuous one-piece audio track.

Example scenario:

1. We're shooting a musical gig,
2. We have one audio recorder that captures the mixer output in stereo in one, big WAV file,
3. We have 2 static DLSRs that record the whole thing but they restart the capture every 15-minutes (file size limit) and they may drop a few frames,
4. We have 3 people with DSLRs shooting different angles and stopping the capture every now and then,
5. All video material has audio recorded from built-in mics,
6. We want the program to analyse file creation date-time, and audio waveforms to automatically align all video clips to the audio track so we can just start editing multicam material instead of spending hours (or days) making just the rough assembly.

I have a similar thing going on here, so I'd be interested in such a tricky tool ;)
