I have seen many video on youtube for KDELIVE learning. A difference i notived between their KDELIVE and mine that my KDENLIVE is having very limited number of effects and transition.
For instance in my alpha manipulation there are only 2 effetcs (BLue screen, Rotoscoping) but their kedenlive have (alpha gradients,alpha operations, alpha shapes, blue screen,color selection, etc .. )

My question is how can i get more effects in my kdenlive.?

What versions of kdenlive, melt and frei0r does you packagae manager report ?

How many .xml files do you have at
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdenlive/effects ?

I have installed frei0r now..So got some more transition. But effect count is still less.

There are 11 xml files in the /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdenlive/effects.

I am using Linux mint latest release.

kdenlive version - Version: 0.9.6-5ubuntu1
melt version - Version: 0.9.0-3
frei0r version - Version: 1.1.22git20091109-1.4

Hmmm. I have 112. And these are the .xml files that define what effects you will have. So I dunno why you have so few.

Maybe you should try uninstalling and re-installing kdenlive.

You could maybe also try upgrading to 0.9.8 of kdenlive (using sunab's ppa maybe that works for Mint. Not sure)

oopss.. am Sorry.. there are 114 xml file in that directory. sorry for typo..
