Kdenlive monitor uses all cpu

Fri Aug 15, 2014 2:45 pm
Hi

I would like to use Kdenlive (Version 0.9.6
under KDE 4.13.3) with my T61P Laptop (2 Cores, 4GB RAM, 256 GB SD).
When trying to edit HD 720p mp4 files (~ 3.6 GB size) the monitor is stuttering (CPU usage maxed out top displays >2.0).
If I open kdenlive without the clip and play the movie with mplayer cpu usage is 0.6.
I already disabled overlay information and tried to turn on proxy clip.
Until know I did not succeed to work with this clip.
Any ideas ?
I really appreciate any kind of help.

Can you post a small sample of your video somewhere? I'll try it on some of my rigs and report back the CPU usage as a comparison.

Hi i uploaded a sample on dropbox.

Actually it was reencoded but the problem remains.
The original movie was from a go pro and is recorded with 50fps maybe thats the issue.

Surf's up !!!

They played fine in both the clip monitor and VLC - simultaneously. CPU usage was well within reason.

Do you have another rig you can try them upon?

I only got an old think pad t40 with one core. I don't think it will play the video without any lags. I thought it might be a display driver issue. I saw you can choose between different options in kde. With low resolution proxy clip it is working but hard to see any details.
