Hello,

I'm new to the world of video editing. I need to merge several clips together, filmed in high resolution using H.264 codec, but it seems that the software Kdenlive runs very slow on my machine.

I have the following configuration:

ESPRIMO Mobile V6555
FUJITSU SIEMENS

Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4400 @ 2.20GHz
3GB DDR2, 500 MB shared to video card

MCP79 High Definition Audio

MCP79 [GeForce 8200M G]

OS: Ubuntu 14.04

I need to know what is the minimum hardware configuration for Kdenlive to work properly.

Thank You.

You don't need a super high spec machine for kdenlive. Just make sure you are using proxy clips for HD work.

Hi,
Is the graphic card/GPU spec important to edit /render a video (except for the display off course) ?

No, not at the moment. The GPU might hit the ground when movit filters are introduced in kdenlive. Working with HD material and proxies works like a charm using Intel HD4000 graphics.
