Rendering crash on 15.04.3

Sun Aug 16, 2015 3:26 pm
When I try to render the render process stops without explanations (Kdenlive keeps running).

I'm on Archlinux 64bit. Kdenlive 15.04.3. KDE Frameworks 5.12.0
In the terminal I see these messages (I tried rendering twice).

Code: Select all
kf5.kxmlgui: Registering action  "edit_select_all"  under new name  "s
Removing cache at "/home/xxx/.cache/kdenlive-thumbs.kcache"

Anything I can do to help debug this?

That terminal output is of no use.

Try rendering to a different format and/or let the process run overnight. You can also use 'top' to see if 'mlt', which is spawned by Kdenlive while rendering, is doing anything.

Thanks for your reply.

I guess I did not make it clear in my post: the rendering crashes instantly, for all formats, as soon as I press render.

If the terminal output is of no use, anything else that may help?

I see...I thought it was hanging up and not responding.

The render screen allows you to create a script that you can run from the command line. Do that and report back w/ the output from the script. I suspect that something is not installed correctly.

See here for instructions on creating and running render scripts.

Re: Rendering crash on 15.04.3

Code: Select all
$ ./script001.sh
//STARTING RENDERING:  false , false , "/usr/bin/melt" , "atsc_720p_2997" , "avformat" , "-" , "/tmp/script001.sh.mlt" , "/home/funpro/kdenlive/untitled.mp4" , () , ("properties=x264-medium", "g=120", "crf=20", "ab=160k", "threads=4", "real_time=-1") , -1 , -1
Started render process:  "/usr/bin/melt"   "/tmp/script001.sh.mlt -profile atsc_720p_2997 -consumer avformat:/home/funpro/kdenlive/untitled.mp4 progress=1 properties=x264-medium g=120 crf=20 ab=160k threads=4 real_time=-1"
"Rendering of /home/funpro/kdenlive/untitled.mp4 aborted, resulting video will probably be corrupted."

Ah now I see. I tried running just melt from the command line and it crashes for some reason.
Code: Select all
$ melt
fish: “melt” terminated by signal SIGSEGV (Address boundary error)

If I switch to bash I get
Code: Select all
$/usr/bin/bash
melt
Segmentation fault (core dumped).

So I guess I have to find out why melt is crashing.

Try reinstalling MLT and/or downloading/building the latest version from MLT's website.

I waited for a month, downloaded all updates, and now it works fine :)
