I installed kdenlive 15.08.2 on Ubuntu 15.10 and it worked for a couple of days but then started crashing on startup with the message:

Invalid playlist
Removing cache at "/home/aurora/.cache/kdenlive-thumbs.kcache"
Invalid playlist

(The initial window flashes on the screen for a fraction of a second)

What method did you use to instal it? What was the source for the instal ?
What linux version are you running.

What versions of melt, avconv, frie0r are installed?

Melt version: 0.9.8-1build1
Avconv: libav 7:2.7.2-1build1, winff 1.5.3-6

;D Problem solved!
I went to the .config folder and deleted the file kdenliverc after which it ran as if for the first time and allowed me to set my preferences.

Would you mind running
Code: Select all
mv ~/.config/kdenliverc ~/.config/kdenliverc-backup
in a terminal (opens via Ctrl+Alt+T keyboard shortcut) just to double-check?

If it still doesn't run, can you show us the command-line output of when you start Kdenlive? For example: run
Code: Select all
kdenlive &> kdenlivedoesntrun.txt

then copy-paste the content of kdenlivedoesntrun.txt to https://gist.github.com/ and share the link with us here.
