Hello. I have kdenlive 4.13.3 running on Ubuntu 14.04

Can someone explain how to get h.265 set up and working? I have a static build of ffmpeg that I use for encoding h.265 from other formats (in the shell) and I would like to be able to edit h265 files in kdenlive. I get "clip is invalid" when I try to drop one in a project. Any help in getting that running would be most appreciated and would certainly be useful to other going forward.
