In 15.08.1 ...
Is there an easy way to turn off the Red Box on the bottom right of the monitor? ( 1 ) I find it very annoying. ( 2 ) I always get my best screen captures by using shutter but that red box now appears on the captured area. I have tried using the "Extract Frame" function as a substitute. But that has proven completely unreliable in version 15. |

You should be able to disable it from the "Monitor" menu, uncheck the "Overlay monitor info" option (not sure about the exact name now).
The red frame counter has been removed in Kdenlive 15.12.0 that will be out in a few hours... |

I'm working a lot with the extract frame function, so I'm curious as to what problems did you encounter and on which specific Kdenlive versions?
I've done several projects involving around 40-60 extracted frames each from mp4/H.264 footage and had only an issue with a certain 15.08.1 or so that had the color space wrong. Otherwise I had never issues on the many other 15.xx.y release or living on the Applications/15.... gt branch. So I'm curious. |

Thanks to both of you for your quick replies.
TO: jbm I sincerely appreciate the news that red box has been removed from "15.12.0" ... Because turning off "Monitor Info Overlay" does not appear to do anything useful. The red box remains even after I have done so. TO: TheDiveO In 15.08.1 A: Right Click on Monitor Picture B: Click On Extract Frame C: Save as "Picture Name.PNG" (the only Format Option I am being offered) D: Then I attempt to use Gimp or PCManFM to find the picture and open it. But there is nothing in the folder. It claims to save the captured frame but nothing actually happens. As a point of reference ... I am running Lubuntu 15.10 which brought with it an update to Kdenlive 15.08.1 |

Kdenlive 15.08.1 seems to be a problematic release; please try to update to 15.08.2 that contains critically bug fixes.

Hum, 15.8.2 not a good pick, 15.8.3 better... but even better is 15.12.0 (15.11.90+67 on my PPA)

Okay ... Finally figured out a way to get around the "Frame Extract" failure.
You can't just type "File Name" and click save. You have to type File Name . Format. "name.bmp" or "name.jpg" or "name.png" And it will save it in the format you are requesting. But using shutter to do a screen grab still results in a higher quality capture. So I evidently need to do an update that will get rid of that stupid red box. |
