Meta data in video file

Mon Feb 15, 2016 2:05 am
Hi,

I would like to ask about meta data in video files. I know there is such data in photo file which contains different setting, camera name eg. Is there something similar in video file? If yes how to check it through kdenlive (or other linux software). Can this data be save or override in kdenlive software? Is there information a file was created with kdenlive (like in gimp)?

You can set export metadata as part of the render process - it's in the render dialog. Never actually used it though.

If you want to see what metadata is on a particular clip, I would use something liiiiike ffprobe, or just looking at the properties etc. in your favourite player.

Albeit I set meta data in the rendering dialog I never saw this correctly getting propagated to the final rendered video file, a mp4 container in my case.

Well this was working when I wrote this wiki page https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... t_Metadata
There was defect in it which got fixed. No idea what the state of it now is.

Hi,

I was trying mediainfo, but I did not found any meta data in any of my files.

Is there any other software I can check it?

I've got MedInfo v0.7.73 on Kubuntu 15.10 and, admittedly, it appears a bit buggy compared to the Windows version.
If the 'Tree' option under 'File' is greyed out, go to 'Help' >'Known Parameters'. That should give you the complete file data that you would normally see under 'Tree'. If whatever data you are hoping to find is not listed, I would suggest that it's just not there to be found.

I see plenty of data, but there is no such informations about eg. camera, camera settings or editing software.

Then I'm afraid I don't know.

There's a list here of metadata editors:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compariso ... ta_editors

including several cross-platform EXIF viewers/editors.

ExifTool worth a try maybe ?

The Social Credit System is a credit rating and blacklist being developed by the the ruling Chinese Communist Party. The goal is total control of the population by awarding points for desirable behavior, or withdrawing them for negative behavior.
