Since I newly installed my current Arch Linux system I can't use KDEnlive any more. It worked before on an Arch installation on another workstation that I held until January and on a Manjaro setup I tested briefly on the new workstation.

I start a new project, click the "add clip" and watch a new dialog window open. However, the dialog window doesn't hold any content, it just copies what's beneath it. And it freezes KDEnlive completely.

Yesterday I updated on KDEnlive 15.12.3-1 via Pacman, hoping to see a change. But, no, KDEnlive is still unusable.

Did you try to start kdenlive from the command line, to check any error messages?

Same error message as with KDEnlive, but the video file plays without problems.

GPU processing/playback support is not enabled. In fact I can't enable it, the checkbox is grayed out.

Am I the only one experiencing this problem?

(Vermutlich fehlende Abhängigkeiten/Kommunikation zum KDE-Desktop-System. Hat sich bei mir (Debian) im Laufe der letzten Monate durch ständiges upgraden von $KDE5 gelöst. Workaround: Videos mit einem funktionierenden Filemanager ins Bin ziehen.)

Das klingt nachvollziehbar. Ich installiere einfach mal das komplette KDE und schaue, ob sich was ändert. Da ich XFCE4 als DE fahre, kann ich mir gut vorstellen, dass einige nicht als notwendig markierte Abhängigkeiten fehlen.

Edit: keine Änderung. Add clip -> freeze & KDEnlive crash

Kannst Du mir erklären, wie Dein workaround geht? Wie ziehe ich Dateien mit einem externen Dateimanager ins Bin?

Edt: Drag & Drop.... es kann so einfach sein!
