For a short time, some code possibly causing deletion of $HOME directory was enabled in Kdenlive git master due to a missing check. This is now fixed in git, but we strongly advise anyone using packages of kdenlive git master to NOT start the application and to remove the package. Several users reported a data loss, we are absolutely sorry about that.

This only affected git master (kdenlive 16.07.x) for a short time (the version in our kdenlive-master PPA). The stable 16.04 branch is not affected, nor is any of our released versions.

Maybe that warning should be announced on the project's front page ?
Using a development version, you reasonably expect the application not be trusted and to potentially corrupt every file you work with, but losing your entire $home directory is a little bit harsher than usual.
