Embedding scalable fonts in the Video?

I want to input some Unicode characters in a video and the pronunciation (audio track). I could use a large enough image but how do I generate the required size so that it's visible from a distance.

Can I insert scaleable Unicode fonts within a video so that it renders properly at 1080p or higher res, or on a large TV?

I want something like:

Kòu

and both the pinyin and Latin-1 must scale for a big TV. Possible?

Your question is confusing. Do you want to add subtitles or will the words be part of the video?
