Could you explain in detail the steps you did when the crash happened? You can refer to this guide to help you report the error with more details:

1 - i put video expample1.mp4 on timeline video 1
2 - i put video expample2.mp4 on timeline video 2
3 - i select overlay transition and i put it between the 2 videos
4 - i move the cursor to watch the effect
5 - crash

in the first post there is the terminal response of this problem...

I cannot reproduze using 16.08.1, do you have gpu processing enabled?

Isn't it linked to the frei0r compilation bug?
We updated the PPA for ubuntu to fix this problem, maybe try an update?

Don't know if the latest package fixes this on Ubuntu but some people were having crashes because they didn't have: libavcodec-ffmpeg-extra56 installed.

Since I cannot reproduce yuor error you must give us more info to try to help you... That means you must run GDB as explained in the link I sent you and reproduce the crash and report it here.

yes... but is not possible to download test_file.kdenlive and play it with MLT’s player... so is not possible to submit the bug

Here the same as. Every time i try "screen" as an affect between 2 layers kdenlive crashes. "Affine" is working but many others not

Iìve just updated (today) kdenlive to version 16.08.2 and the problem (on ubuntu studio 16.06) persists.

have the same issue like tojosettantadue. kdenlive crashes after using a transition. Same with kdenlive 16.08.1 and 16.08.2.
Im using ubuntu 16.04.

If i can give you some informations which helps to locate the Problem, so please let me know.

Strange thing by the way. I checked my melt Version. Ist 6.3.0. On the melt webside the actually Version is 6.2.0. Is this maybe the problem?
