Proxy Clip Effect on final output

Sat Oct 08, 2016 8:07 pm
When creating proxy clips, does the quality of the proxy clip have any relationship to the final output?

The default proxy clips are rendered at 640x480 which is 4:3, the issue is that when I then render the final video in 1080p - 16:9, the aspect ratio renders as 4:3.

I can change the proxy clips to render at 720/1080 but it still bugs me that somehow the proxy clips are having an effect on the final output and I wonder if I should up the quality of my proxy clips as high as possible to help the final output.
