Speed up audio, correct pitch.

Tue Oct 18, 2016 3:35 pm
Hey, everyone! Just installed kdenlive 16, super excited about it!

So now the "speed" filter can also speed up the audio, but that increases it's pitch.

So my question is - how can I speed up the audio without changing it's pitch? Or maybe I can add another filter that will correct the pitch after speeding up?

Yes, It's spossible:

  1. Close Kdenlive
  2. Install the package rubberband-ladspa (That's what it's called on Ubuntu, it may vary by distro)
  3. Reopen kdenlive
  4. Change the speed using the speed effect, and then, to correct the pitch, find the "Rubber band" effect, and apply either the mono or stereo version of it, depending on your audio, and adjust the settings to get the correct pitch

You can also do this in Audacity in one step by using the "Change tempo" effect, which may also give better results.
