I've got kdenlive for Arch Linux and everything is fine, exept the language. I'm German so it's a little bit weird to have some text in English and some in German. Kdenlive translations are released with the global KDE ones (kde-l10n-de package in debian, check arch name): do you have this installed & up to date?
