i installed 16.12.1 under Ubuntu 16.04 in the given way via ppa. Success and it's working more or less.

But - the surface of kdenlive ist totally poor, only grey an white and on some buttons you can't read what's on them. See link to screenshot:

I installed Kubuntu 16.04 with KDE-Plasma-Desktop (on a different harddisk) and tried here - same situation!

Would like to know if this is MY problem (hardware or software) or it's a known bug/problem.

Anybody to help me?

try doing to reset the interface:

rm .local/share/kxmlgui5/kdenlive/kdenliveui.rc

and to reset the settings:

rm .config/kdenliverc

also check if you have breeze installed...

But I'm a pure kdenlive-beginner, what shoud I do with the two "rm..." lines? Are they terminal commands or something inside the kdenlive settings?
