So I'm trying to archive a project. It only has one clip which is 3h long... I only used about 30 seconds of it.

Is there an easy way to trim the rest of the footage so that my archived project isn't 1.4 GB's in size ;D ?

Thanks,

This is something premiere pro does seem to have in some way: https://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/archiv ... t-manager/
Even allows you to set margins around the parts of a clip you used

At 1.4GB I would honestly recommend just archiving the whole thing to a data DVD or Bluray. I would actually recommend archiving the whole project no matter how big it was :)

It builds good habits :)

You can use ffmpeg and losslessly cut around the 30 seconds you need. But most likely the timestamps in your remaining footage will get lost and you have to "redo" your project.

Cutting a part of a clip, check: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Seeking

You don't say what the format of your footage is, but you could also look at Avidemux for cutting down your large source file (at Key/I-frames):
