Photos would not render

Mon Apr 17, 2017 3:34 pm
Greetings!

We have just installed Kdenlive on a Windows 10 notebook.
The first video we make is based on a song we recorded. It is in mp3.
There are small videos and photos we would like to combine.
While editing, in the preview all looks rather good. However, when we render the video there are things:

1. The photos are not rendered. Instead of these pictures there is only an empty screen.
2. The resulting video is much longer than the original mp3 soundtrack. There is silence with black screen at the end of the video.

How may the photos be made visible?
How could the resulting video be as long as the mp3?

Is there a way to fade images to and from transparent so the underlining image or video would smoothly be seen?

Thanks a lot for all help.

Greetings

Tamás

Hello,

I've just uploaded a new version that should hopefully solve the images issue:
https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/ ... 4.0-w64.7z

When you render your work, did you export 'full project' or 'zone'?
Did you check either of those matches your sound track length?

Wow! Really quick answer!
Thanks a lot.

We rendered the FULL project.

What to do with the new version you have just uploaded?

Sorry, what do you mean by this question:
Did you check either of those matches your sound track length?

Thanks a lot!

your project may go beyond your MP3 clip if you moved some other materials later on the timeline.
also if you didn't align the MP3 start on timecode 0 the full project would also start earlier...
in those cases you can define a zone (with "I" shortcut for "inpoint" and "O" for "outpoint") around your wanted limits, and render this zone...

Once you downloaded the new 7z file just uncompress it and run kdenlive.exe... (FFmpeg is included, but this version renders only the free webm format, not the patented mp4: advocate for open standards :) )

Oké. We shall download the new version.
Will this new version be able to handle our videos? They are .wmv or .avi filles.
We would like to upload the end result to YouTube. What format should we define when rendering?

The mp3 starts at point zero. I will see the project tomorrow (when I will meet again my friend... And his pc.). I will check if there is anything beyond the limits of the mp3 file.

Thanks a lot! Greetings

Hello.

Thanks, you were right! Our music file was too long and it had silence at the end. When we changed to the original wav file the length of the rendered video is perfect.

However, with the new version of the program we cannot even render, at all.

Here you may see the error message we get:

https://goo.gl/photos/rTA7oUiWPhpGnJ8E6

The new version does not allow us to render in mp4. What can we do?
What format should we use?
Or what to do to generate mp4?

Thanks, greetings

You can use the WebM format (VP8) Youtube & any video site should accept it.
Or you can follow the same procedure as for 16.12 downloading FFmpeg separately to replace the one I shipped, this would enable all codecs.

Strange, I don't have this error, and the dialog says the "windows" plugin is available... but it doesn't load it!
What if you try to generate a script (instead of directly render to file) then launch the script?

In the render dialog, you have 2 buttons to validate export, the 2nd one being generating a script.
Then to launch it you go to the 3rd tab, or in your project "script" folder you have a .bat file to double-clic on...

Hello,

I have my little Ubuntu netbook. We would like to run the referring on it (instead of the Widows 10).

However, the kdenlive on Ubuntu does not recognise the project file (extension: .Kdenlive).

How can the project be run on the Ubuntu?

Thanks

Hello again,

In the meantime we tried the script on the Windows computer. When we start it, it says that it waits for the output file.
Nothing is going on.
We let it wait for a good hour. Still nothing.

We are lost...

We tried to double click on the bat file as well. A flash-like message, what we could not read appears, and after nothing seems to happen.

What about sending you the script? And, may be all the videos and images with it? Altogether they are about 1,5 Gbyte.
What do you think?

Thanks

On ubuntu: the extension should not have a capitalized K...

On windows: try to run the bat file from a console :
start menu / run command : cmd
then type (copy paste helps) : cd "path\to\your\script\folder"
end finally : "your_script.bat"

you should now have the time to read the message...

Thanks for your help.

Well, the extension is .kdenlive both on Windows and on Ubuntu with lower case k.

We are going to try the Console on the Windows.

My I call you? I speak French, as well.
I have Viber and WhatsApp, as well.

Greetings
