Minimum configuration for kdenlive ?

Mon Apr 24, 2017 11:42 am
Hello everybody

Please sorry about my bad English.

I have downloaded kdenlive for Ubuntu. In fact, my operating system is Xubuntu 17.4.

I haven't encountered any problem for to download or for to set up.

However, all what i make on kdenlive is very slow.

Do it has a minimal configuration?

Mine is Processor x32 with 2 GO RAM.

Thanks

Umm... your hardware setup might not be powerful enough to run Kdenlive at the moment.

On my Lenovo T61 laptop I am running Fedora 24 (64-bit) w/ 4 Gig RAM, GNOME 3.20 desktop.

I was having speed problems and crash problems with GNOME 3 until I doubled my RAM in late 2015. Much better now. GNOME and the Linux kernel need about 3 Gigs just by themselves.

Also once you add more RAM you should consider using Proxy Clips for anything higher than "VHS/Beta" quality (240i). So miniDV (480i), HDV (720p, 1080p...) would require proxy clips which creates much smaller video-audio clips that makes moving around on the timeline much much easier.

Kdenlive 17.12.3 MLT 6.4.1, Qt 5.6.2
Fedora 27 GNOME 3.26
