I have some video stream files saved by VLC where each file is 10+ minutes long. Some of them loaded properly in kdenlive while others are not. Those are not loaded properly by kdenlive shown with an image (instead of video) icon in the file menu of kdenlive. When loaded by kdenlive, it only plays the first few seconds. These 10+ minutes video files play OK with mplayer. For instance, this video stream file (vlc-record-2017-05-11-13h25m08s-Streaming-.ts) shown with a video icon in kdenlive file menu loads and plays properly while this video stream file (vlc-record-2017-05-03-13h40m03s-Streaming-.ts) shown with an image icon in kdenlive file menu only plays the 1st few seconds. Each of them is a 10+ minute length video stream saved by VLC. The Linux file utility shows both are data file as seen below. Is there a way to resolve this issue?
Code: Select all
[suse@linux-rf8f:/home/local/PEOPLE/suse/works/kodi/TV 15%] ~ file vlc-record-2017-05-11-13h25m08s-Streaming-.ts
vlc-record-2017-05-11-13h25m08s-Streaming-.ts: data
[suse@linux-rf8f:/home/local/PEOPLE/suse/works/kodi/TV 16%] ~ file vlc-record-2017-05-03-13h40m03s-Streaming-.ts
vlc-record-2017-05-03-13h40m03s-Streaming-.ts: data
[suse@linux-rf8f:/home/local/PEOPLE/suse/works/kodi/TV 17%] ~

Hello,
Try to remux your files with a different container (mov or matroska) : TS is terrible to navigate, making editing almost impossible.
Not really necessary to transcode (ffmpeg -c copy -i in.ts out.mov), but if you may also try the DNxHD conversion from the bin clip context menu.
Hope this helps?
