I can not import my .flv video clips into kdnlive. it will always respond that the video clip is invalid and will be removed, so i cant do anything with the software until i can figure out why i can not add video clips

i am running kdnlive on ubuntu 16.04

running Version 15.12.3
Using:
KDE Frameworks 5.18.0
Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1)
The xcb windowing system
