Installation

This seems like it should be a lot simpler than I'm making it. I downloaded this file: ffmpeg-3.2.4-win64-shared and unzipped it, but the directions say to move some of the contents to a kdenlive-windows folder. However, I don't see anywhere to download kdenlive-windows.

First, you need the Kdenlive program. When you unzip it, it will create a folder called "kdenlive-windows" by default. You can get Kdenlive here (pick one that ends in .7z):

https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/

Technically, there isn't an installation for Kdenlive - you simply unzip it to wherever you would like. You can then right-click on kdenlive.exe in that folder and choose 'Send to Desktop' if you want a shortcut on your desktop.

The instructions should be updated:
FFmpeg is now included in the 17.04 archives, no absolute need to get it separately.
However due to patents weighting on H264/265, we can't include these codecs on our servers, and invite you to promote the free webm format (accepted by youtube, android devices etc).
However if you really need H264/5 (directly sharing with apple prisoners, without intermediate video platform?), then you need to get these codecs from the full FFmpeg binaries.
Last detail: in 17.04 archives, the folder is no more kdenlive-windows but Kdenlive-[release number] so that it is easier to install several versions... so copy the FFmpeg files here.

Thank you, this helped tremendously.
