Hi,
Does anyone know formula for 2.35:1 - Aspect Ratio in Kdenlive? We have a letterbox with value to set, but I need the proper number for 2.35:1. many thanks |

The smallest integer ratio to get 2.35:1 is 47:20 (what a clumsy number, I guess this must be some pre-digital legacy).
So, with a 1:1 pixel aspect, you must multiply those two numbers with the same factor to get a format with 2.35:1 display aspect. For example, take 24 and you get 1128 x 480, 36 gives 1692 x 720, 54 gives 2538 x 1080, 102 gives 4794 x 2040 etc. P.S. if you want to have your dimensions divisible by 8 (MPEG DFT), you have two (three) options: 1 - chose a factor divisible by 8, for example 24 above, or 56 to give 2632 x 1120 2 - cut or pad one dimension, for example cut 2538 to 2536 or pad it to 2544. In this case you will slightly deviate from the 2.35:1 ratio - in the previous examples to 2.348:1 and 2.356:1 3 - slghtly adjust the pixel aspect, for example for 2536x1080, use 2538/2536 = 1.00079:1 pixels. Myself, I wouldn't really care about the old analog 2.35 standard and would just go for a nice and clean 2.4:1 (12:5) ratio. |
