Thanks Brettv for taking the time to create this great video tutorial! It's awesome. This may be a great solution for some users. Unfortunately, it won't work for me as I am trying to create a weekly animated comic. There will be hundreds of words in each episode.

TypeWriter effect was gone since 0.9.10 due to a difficult bug in Qt5 (in unmaintained QGraphics component).
However a new attempt to bring it back is under review for few days, seems promising :)
To get it once out you will need a fresh build of MLT & Kdenlive : either compiling from source, or using Ubuntu PPA / Arch AUR / AppImage...
Be patient for a few weeks :\

Any update on the progress of the typewriter effect that is being added back to Kdenlive? I've been keeping an eye on the release notes, and trying the latest AppImages, but it still isn't there.

1) Select the text
2) Scroll down in the properties tab on the right hand side of the title editor
3) Enable the typewriter option
4) Done!

Indeed, that's the way. Note that the Typewriter effect is only available in kdenlive V21.08 and higher (perhaps since 20, but not sure).
