Well, at this point, I would do a search and delete every kdenlive folder and file - then start fresh. Re-download all the files and redo the process. I recommend not placing things in the Program Files folder - just create a folder on the C drive.
Do the above with your Antivirus disabled. When you run Kdenlive.exe, right-click and run it as administrator. Good luck. |

Ok with crodgers and i agree for the 6 points listed by bartoloni, i just add a point : delete the files c:\users\yourname\appdata\Local\kdenliverc c:\users\yourname\appdata\Local\kdeglobals and the folder kdenlive in the same directory if exits.
very important as bartoloni said to restart your computer before installing kdenlive ( because 3 process stay running after closing kdenlive, a known bug. You may kill them with a script or the task manager : kdenlive.exe dbus-deamon.exe, i forgot the name of the third but it dies when kdenlive.exe is killed) Try with the last binaries uploaded by vpinon. Look for his post of November 3rd in this forum |

Try deleting the 'kdenliverc' file which should be located here:
c:/users/USERNAME/appdata/local/kdenliverc (looks like someone beat me to it, but I can't delete this post). |

I had same problem not being able to export to MP4, and now it works fine exporting MP4.
Windows 10, Creators First of all I did everything suggested thus far in this thread. Here's some other things I did that may or may not have been part of the solution: With Kdenlive closed, I created this .bat file and ran it as mentioned here (see end of thread to use updated code for Windows 10): (in case you're not sure how to do that, I just made a .txt file, copied pasted the code, put .bat extension instead of .txt, and ran it.) viewtopic.php?f=265&t=142662 Then deleted all these folders (maybe not a good idea, not sure but worked here) C:\Users\main\AppData\Local\kdenlive C:\Users\main\AppData\Local\stalefiles\kdenlive C:\Users\main\AppData\Roaming\kdenlive Edit also I had to make sure all these paths made sense at settings> configure kdenlive> environment because some were pointing to older versions of kdenlive, not pointing to profiles folder properly, not pointing to melt.exe EndEdit Now when I go settings> run config wizard, libx264, libx265 no longer show as missing, and render> MP4 shows up fine and renders to MP4 fine frew |

"note:
1. In the page https://kdenlive.org/download/, the windows download link is still point to version 17.08.1 2. Still in that page, I thing it is necessary to update the guide, so people don't have to dig into the forum or docs." You can pick any version you want here: https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/ |

(The following may be helpful for future generations.)
A few days ago, Kdelive (melt) couldn't render anything. Therefore: glsl.=1 I forgot to turn off Movit.

I had the exact same issue as stated before. Rendering using FFMpeg did not seem to work as Kdenlive did not recognize it. I tried every solution thus far and none worked, until I decided to use a different version of FFMpeg. It seems as though the nightly builds cause some issues in how Kdenlive is able to recognize the codec and program, so version 3.4.1 of FFMpeg worked perfectly for me (can be found here: https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win64/shared/ffmpeg-3.4.1-win64-shared.zip). Anyways, using the basic installation guide provided by Kdenlive worked fine for me with the 3.4.1 version.
Hope this helps others that have the same issue as me. This was with the 17.12.0 build of Kdenlive btw. |

@DrQuantumos you are right! Your solution allowed me to get a Kdenlive install working perfectly. It was the ffmpeg version that was the problem.
If I follow the instructions found on https://kdenlive.org/download/ here is the result: ![]() I don't know if they could change the broken instructions. |

Thanks a lot, DrQuantumos !
after a long time searching, I read your post. It works great, at least for MP4-h264 Before having the good ffmpeg, I could only have VOB (OK but poor) or WMV (KO : sound OK, but no image) Any one knows the good ffmpeg package for Ubuntu ? |

For ubuntu or other linux, the simplest way is to use the AppImage archive. All you need ( kdenlive, mlt, ffmpeg) comes into the archive.

Thank you for all the troubleshooting. I had the same problem and it took me almost 2 hours to fix. In the end what worked for me was:
1) Kill all processes of kdenlive 2) Replace "ffmpeg-20180124-1948b76-win64-shared" with "ffmpeg-3.4.1-win64-shared.zip" 3) Delete: C:\Users\[YOURNAME]\AppData\Local\kdenlive and C:\Users\[YOURNAME]\AppData\Roaming\kdenlive |

thanks, jpasturel. I downloaded the Kdenlive-17.12.0d-x86_64.Appimage because we must wait for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS before we can use the normal package.
The ffmpeg version included in the Appimage doesn't let you produce mp4 files. So I used Windows version of kdenlive, and downloaded ffmpeg-3.4.1-win64-shared. It works. But I would have prefered to run kdenlive under Ubuntu. |
