I have a list of bullet points that I'd like to hide and then display one after another with a 1 second delay between each.

Is a simple way to do this in Kdenlive? The only way I can see is to create a separate title clip for each point, carefully align the text in each clip, and then set a transparency effect for each clip, but that's a ton of work for a relatively simple visual.

If you have a solid background you can use a color clip like a mask. I don't know if is more easy for you but it is an another alternative.
Look this project:

Result:

when your done, change the color of the mask to background's color, you have this:

It's easy to do, but if you have a problem I can send the project to you ;)
If you don't have a solid background, the rotoscopy is the beast way.
