I am a new user of kdenlive.

Is there a way to see the "Media Create Date" of the Clips in the Project Bin?
The Project Bin shows only the "File Modification Date", which is not always the same like the "Media Create Date".
To get the chronological order of my clips I need the Media Create Date. I have been activated the exiftool-setting in kdenlive; nothing changed.

If your camera does not write a date to the container, the "File Modification Date" is also the "Media Create Date" (not only in exiftool). However, this data stamp in the file system is not necessarily permanent. As a rule, this can be solved more securely using the file name: "20110907-1306 meaningful description 50i.mts"
Code: Select all
File Name                       : 20110907-1306 meaningful description 50i.mts
File Modification Date/Time     : 2011:09:07 13:17:36+02:00
File Access Date/Time           : 2017:12:28 12:55:27+01:00
File Inode Change Date/Time     : 2014:11:05 22:14:06+01:00

$ touch 20110907-1306 meaningful description 50i.mts

File Modification Date/Time     : 2017:12:28 13:23:17+01:00
File Access Date/Time           : 2017:12:28 13:23:17+01:00
File Inode Change Date/Time     : 2017:12:28 13:23:17+01:00
Date/Time Original              : 2011:09:07 13:06:15+01:00 DST

Then why don't you use Shotcut? Of course, you are also free to let the developers of this video editing software know your wishes regarding the sorting of your files. And also ask for an import function directly from the camera into a database including the possibility of keywording etc. Then they have something to do, as soon as they have finished the export function to Premiere (Avid, Magix, DaVinci Resolve...).

Originally I thought that kdenlive is the NLE to go. I didn't expect the lack of basic features and I discovered Shotcut after my initial post.

Unfortunately Shotcut has also some shortcomings, e.g. it seems that at the current state you can not set chapter markers. This is also a missing feature for kdenlive.

:(
