I have a scene that was filmed with two different cameras. I want to cut back and forth between the two camera angles. What is the easiest way to align the two tracks, and to choose portions of each that will be rendered into the final video? I'm using Kdenlive 17.12.

Syncing two cameras: Place one clip on a video track, the other in the clip monitor. In both sources, find the same picture (I prefer pictures where a movement ends, that is easy quite easy to find). Now set an in point in the clip monitor and drag the clip to another video track and align it with the timeline cursor. Then resize the inserted clip to get the parts before the in point (and if needed after the out point) visible again.
Switching between sources: Sources above a certain track will overlay the lower track. So, if you want to switch to the lower track picture, just use the scissor tool to cut out the right portion of the upper track. It may be useful if you mute audio on one track to have the recorded sound only once in your video. |

Thanks for the tips. I especially like how you align the two clips using the monitor and the timeline.
Is there a way to use the clip monitor to do a split screen so you can watch the different clips at the same time and choose what parts to include by using a side-by-side comparison? I seem to remember seeing a Kdenlive tutorial on how to do that a long time ago, but my memory is hazy on it. |

This is what you are looking for, I guess, it is a Right Click on Project Monitor feature:

I remember using Sony Vegas once for a 3 camera shoot. I was able to keyframe the opacity IIRC. It seems that Kdenlive works different than Vegas. I did find this page. Hope it helps.
