I was wondering if Kdenlive has a tool or effects add on that can do what is done in this video with Davinci Resolve.

Haven't worked wit recent versions of Kdenive, but I guess you can do it like this:
Track1, original video Track2, B&W version of same video Color selection on track 1 Composite transition |

Tried your suggestion. What color selection do I use? And I found no way to isolate an object in the video and apply color to that particular object. |

Sorry, I thought you wanted to isolate a specific color.
For isolating a specific area, use rotoscoping, of whose status in the recent versions I am not sure. |

There is also masking (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIpnGlRY27U). However this is quite time consuming and inconvenient. Hopefully they add masking as built in
EDIT: my bad rotoscoping is masking but with a different name. *facepalm* |

A bit late replying I know, but I don't visit the forum as often as I used to.
The 'Key Spill Mop-Up' effect can be used as a key to isolate and remove (desaturate) a particular color as I described here: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=265&t=138574#p370794 It's the closest you'll get to the equivalent of the HSL qualifier tool in Resolve |
