Can You Mask Videos in Kdenlive?

Sun Jul 01, 2018 2:47 am
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if it is possible to mask 2 videos together? I.e. There are 2 clips on top of each other and I can make a section of the top video transparent so that you can see the video under it.

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6r6UX5gWsw (@ 0:05)

I guess if I somehow imported my video into individual frames into Gimp and did it there, I could theoretically do it but that would be a lot of work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Use Rotoscoping
https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... otoscoping

You can adjust rotoscoping frame by frame.

Hint: When you first add the rotoscope effect the keyframe options in it are greyed out. You cannot even add a new keyframe.
Solution. Click in the project monitor and start drawing your rotoscope matte. Right click in the area you want to have the alpha then the rotoscope keyframe options become enabled.
