Hello,
(Edit: Windows 10, Kdenlive 18-04.1) While cleaning up my computer a bit I noticed quite a bit of material here: "C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\kdenlive\cache" Does anyone know what the purpose the cache folder is? Does leaving the data there speed up loading projects or something? Can I just delete it, and still have my projects load fine? Thanks for any ideas.

There all your settings are stored. If you delete that folder all your personal Kdenlive settings are gone. If you save your project file there these are gone as well.

Interesting, I did not know that.
So what is kdenlive "Manage Cached Data" used for generally? |

I don’t have this folder. What I see is that all proxys are stored in the cache folder and preview picture as well. You can change the storage place for the proxy, thumbnails and preview under project settings. Click on custom project folder. |

I believe "cache" is only for (long) calculated files, like proxies, thumbs and effects previews.
If you delete it, you don't loose data, but kdenlive will have to re-calculate it when needed, which takes several minutes/hours. So OK to do it when project is finished, or won't be used for long. Your settings are in AppData\Local\kdenliverc |

It's a toolbar i added by going to Settings> Configure Tollbars> Manage Cached Data
Good to know, thank you.

I think that clarifies it. I kind of thought they could be deleted without affecting any projects data. Just wanted to be sure though. Thanks. |
