Hello.

When using 4k footage in a 1080p project, Kdenlive will work normally for about an hour. After this point, the display monitor will shrink all photos and videos to fill only the top left quarter of the editing viewer. This inconvenience alone might be bearable, but effects treat the video as if it takes up the whole screen (meaning that you have to guess for all variables because you cannot see in real time what the effect is doing). Any preexisting effects become disorientated and damaged by the shrinking. For example, I overlaid a logo image on top of a video, and shrunk the logo down to 80% of its normal size. When the bug appeared the logo was not only moved out of the center of the screen, but shrunk to 1/8 of the size that I originally placed it in.

Any clips that had effects on them were shifted in time. For example, I selected a 20 second portion of a 2 minute long clip and placed it in the timeline. After the bug appeared, the 20 seconds that I had selected were replaced with the 20 seconds immediately preceding my chosen selection. This behavior was only appearing on clips that had effects on them (in particular speed effects).

This image shows the latest example of the bug that occurred just a couple minutes ago: https://cloud.heritagerd.com/index.php/ ... 6rkwmEpjEQ

The project exports in a normal video that fills its whole screen, so the issue is only in the project viewer.

This issue appears on both my work machine (Kubuntu, AMD card, Kden 18.08.0) and home machine (Antergros, Nvidia Card, Kden 18.08.0).

The 4k footage utilized comes from a Lumix GH5 camera, H.264 codec, 60 fps.

Is there a setting that can be activated to disable this shrinking? I am using Kden professionally, and have several clients waiting on their videos, I cannot afford to wait until December for this issue to be fixed. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: The quarter screen size disappeared when I switched from Preview to either High Quality or None. However, the clip's messed up timing was not corrected by changing this setting.

Your screenshot looks like you have not or just partly installed the icons (missing: libxcb-keysyms1). For me it looks like your Kdenlive installation is not complete.

If you have not done, download the AppImage: https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/ ... 4.AppImage. Make it executable and try again.

It may help if you run the Appimage from the terminal (press CTRL + ALT + T). Move to the AppImage folder and run the .AppImage: ./Kdenlive*.AppImage. Then you see what are the missing parts of the installation.

There is an option to view up to four sources in parallel in the clip viewer. Maybe you accidentally checked this option? It is called Split View: https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... Split_View

Unfortunately, the various repository builds of Kdenlive (the arch repos, Kubuntu's software download page, and the app image for 18.08) all seem to be missing features for each computer I run them on. Feels like I am missing dependencies. For example, my coworker switched his desktop from GNOME to Plasma, and all of a sudden missing effects appeared.

During my project, I tried downloaded and running the app image, but it was both crashing repeatedly and resetting themes after each crash.

The project certainly looks like it is in multi-track view, but I never right clicked on the screen and selected it at any point during my edits. Is there a keyboard shortcut I may have inadvertently pressed that caused it to switch views?
