Video plays once but never again

Mon Aug 27, 2018 2:11 pm
Forgive me for what may be a complete newbie question…

I've just started trying to learn Kdenlive (v 18.04.1 on Windows 10). I have added a couple of video clips to a new project, into a track on the timeline. When I click Play in the Project Monitor, the video starts to play; when I click Pause it pauses; but when I click Play (or press Space) again, it doesn't play – it seems to advance just one frame. I can't find any way of getting it to actually play again. If I close the project and reopen it, again I can play the video but only once. Am I missing/misunderstanding something terribly important, or is there something wrong in my setup?

Many thanks in advance

Problem is known for all Kdenlive Windows versions. Root cause not found so far. Work around: hit space and the arrow key right.

If Kdenlive seems blocked as you descript hit CTR+Space. Now the play heat starts from beginning and you can click with the mouse into the timeline to play from there.

Or you change in the settings: Hit CTRL+SHIFT+, -> Environment -> Process treads -> 2 or higher. This solves the bug but this block other functions and the playback gets stuttered.

Many thanks, Merlimau! Good to know that I'm not doing anything stupid. And those workarounds work well for me. Much appreciated.
