Hi,
I want to use a photo as the background of my title clip and end credits.

However I cannot figure out how to get the photo to fill the entire title clip visible area. Its a mystery to me.
When I imported the clips from my GIT2 action cam, Kdenlive set up the project defaults as 2.5K QHD 1440p 24 fps (2560x1440, 16x9).
However, when I examine the clips in the bin, they are 2880x2160px.
This seems strange to me. Why did Kdenlive set up the project as 2.5K QHD? Should I change the project settings? I'm bamboozled.

I would like to use still image as the background in my title clips, but when I resize an image in GIMP (using 'Scale') to 2560x1440, and import the image into Kdenlive's title clip editor, the image is not large enough to fill the visible area and leaves black bars on the side. The same thing happens if I resize it to 2880x2160. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any advice!

Your camera makes: 2160P HD video: 2880 x 2160; 24fps and 1440P HD video: 2560 x 1440; 30fps. Correct?

The problem is that the 2880x2160 is not a 4K 16:9 format because it as a ratio of 3:4 (I would say: pseudo 4K). So you have to make a custom preset for the 2880x2160 clips. I would suggest working only with the standard 1440P format.

I guess there is no 4:3 video format displayed 1:1 any more in the 21st century. I did not seach the web - my guess is that 2880x2160 uses anamorph horizontal pixels that are stretched to the normal 4k resolution, resulting in 16:9 display ratio. In earlier days this has been done in PAL to achieve 16:9 display ratio for 4:3 aspect ratio material.

You may find the pixel aspect ratio (4:3) and display aspect ratio (16:9) in the project settings - I did not check the manual... You may have to create a custom profile.
