Automatically add overlaps and transitions between all clips

Hello there,

I'm pretty new to kdenlive and already stumbled across my first question (to which I didn't find any satisfying answer anywhere):

I would like to add all clips in my bin to the timeline and add a transition (dissolve) between each of these clips.
Since there are many clips, I would like to add all the transitions automatically (without having to overlap and add the transition between each two clips manually).
Is there a solution to this?

Best

I assume you talking about “same track transition” (like in Premiere and other NLE’s). This will come after refactoring version is released (https://community.kde.org/Kdenlive/Deve ... ng_Roadmap).

Transitions can only be attached vertically (not horizontally). You have to make with the clips like a zig-zag on the timeline. To do this most efficiently you can do the following:
- make “target track” video/audio track 1 (the green point most left) -> select the clip in the bin -> CTRL+SHIFT+I (adds the clip to the timeline) -> move the time indicator in the timeline near to the end of the clip.
- make “target track” video/audio track 2 -> select the clip …. .

Make sure you enable icon “automatic transitions” in the timeline (bottom right) (https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... ransitions).

Then you add the transitions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1k7GbEssqA .

Merlimau, thanks a lot!
I'm looking forward to the "same track transition", in the meantime your steps are really helpful to make my work more fluent.
